3 Tips For Keeping Your Car Clean and Organized During A Road Trip

If you have big plans for a long road trip in the next few months, one thing you might want to consider is how you’ll keep your car clean and organized throughout your trip. Especially if you have kids or you plan on having a car full of people, having a plan in place for organization and cleanliness beforehand can save you from having your car turn into a big mess. Additionally, from a safety standpoint, when you have a lot of items floating around a vehicle, you could also have to deal with load shift or those items becoming dangerous in the event of a car accident.

To help you avoid all of these mishaps, here are three tips for keeping your car clean and organized during a road trip.

Protect Your Seats And Flooring

The best way to help your car stay clean during a road trip and to make cleaning on your trip a breeze is to prepare your seats and floors ahead of time. To do this, you’ll want to have some kind of protective covering that you place on these surfaces.

With rubber mats on the floor and car seat protectors over the seats, particularly under any car seats your kids might be in, you can easily pull these items out of the car and shake off anything that’s fallen on them without having to crawl into the car to clean things up.

Dump Garbage At Every Stop

Road trips will often have your passenger eating lots of snacks along the way. But in many cases, snacks also mean amassing lots of garbage.

To keep from having to just pile garbage up in any space available, try to have a garbage bag for each row of seating in your car. Then, every time you stop for gas or to stretch your legs along the journey, make sure all garbage bags get taken out of the car and dumped so that it’s not left to stink up the car when you get back inside.

Reorganize As You Go

The best way to keep your car organized during a road trip is to have things well organized from the start. If you’re able to start with things in an ideal place, even if you have to get into them while you’re traveling, you’ll at least still have a space for them to go when you put them back.

And when things inevitably get moved and shifted around during your road trip, take some time to reorganize a few times throughout your trip so that things never have a chance to get too out of control.

If you’ve had a hard time keeping your car clean and organized on previous road trips, consider implementing the tips mentioned above on your next adventure.
