The 797 is not only a stylish looker, it is also very sporty and compact. Since this is a naked motorcycle, there isn’t much bodywork. It has the typical appeal of a Monster with good paintwork and quality finish. It gets an oval headlamp up-front, a muscular tank and a swept-up tail section. The exposed trellis fame looks very cool; so do the red 10-spoke alloy wheels. It also sports a stubby exhaust. The fully digital instrument cluster features trip meters, speedometer, tachometer, clock, odometer, average time, speed and engine oil temperature. The switchgear is of good quality. The bike surges ahead upon opening the throttle, and it can manage a top speed of 210kph. Vibrations can be felt at around 8000RPM. But the L-Twin engine is super smooth when ridden sedately, and it sounds really nice with the throaty exhaust. Power delivery is linear and the revs rise without any trouble. The gearbox works well, but the engine heats up and comes in the way of the riding experience. At 193kgs, the bike’s weight is quite manageable. The ground clearance, on the other hand, is 180mm, while the bike has a wheelbase of 1435mm and a seat height of 805mm.

The Ducati Monster 797 has a fuel tank capacity of 16.5 litres. In terms of mileage, the bike is capable of returning 19kmpl by ARAI, in BSIV guise.
Mechanical Parts
The Monster 797 has very balanced ergonomics, and the positioning of the handlebar, foot pegs and seat make for a very committed posture that allows the rider to have a good control over the bike. The handlebar is nice and wide, and the seat provides good comfort for the rider, although the pillion doesn’t have the same privilege. Ride quality is very good, and makes the bike a perfect fit for Indian roads. All bumps are soaked in with aplomb. But around corners, the bike doesn’t feel like it’s glued to the tarmac. The bike is agile and very nimble. The tyres could’ve been better in terms of grip, and the brakes offer good bite. At the front, the bike rides on upside-down forks, while the rear gets a Sachs mono-shock absorber. As far as the chassis is concerned, it is built around a tubular steel trellis frame. The Monster 797 runs on 120/70 ZR-17 tyres at the front and 180/55 ZR-17 tyres at the rear. Retardation duties are taken care of by disc brakes at the front and at the rear.
