Essential Tech For Your Medical Business

If you run a medical business, it’s best to stay on top of all technology as much as you can. It’s what your patients will want – and expect – and if you want to get ahead of your competition, this is a great way to do it. The bonus is that you can help many more people and ensure your patients are happy at the same time. However, there are many pieces of technology, old and new, that you might be considering. If that’s the case, how can you know what is best? Read on to discover some of the most essential tech for your medical business.

X-Ray Spectrometers

One of the issues that many doctor’s surgeries have is that they cannot carry out all the necessary tests in one place – often, patients will have an initial appointment, and then they will need to go to a larger clinic or perhaps to a hospital for the rest of their exploratory treatment.

The main issue that causes this is the requirement for an x-ray. However, thanks to exceptional new tech from Malvern Panalytical, it is now possible to get a cost-effective x-ray spectrometer within a doctor’s surgery. It is quick and accurate and means that one doctor can do all the necessary tests for their patient, making diagnosis much quicker and less traumatic – or at least inconvenient – for the patient.

Telehealth And Remote Care

Telehealth is a rather vague term, but nonetheless, it’s one that will be useful to you and your medical business. Essentially, telehealth is an umbrella term that covers any of the tech used to treat patients remotely

This isn’t an entirely new idea, but it’s one that, thanks to the necessity due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, has taken off over the last 18 months or so. This is why it’s an interesting one to ensure you are using it to its full advantage. People are much more used to the idea of remote doctors’ appointments, and they are less reluctant to use the technology. This is why so much thought and innovation has gone into it of late and why it can now be used almost in place of face-to-face appointments (although these will still be necessary at times).

ePrescription Systems

Following on from the above idea, ePrescriptions are another highly useful piece of technology that your medical business could benefit from. When these are used, the patient’s prescription is sent to the pharmacy through email (or rather, a secured, digitized version of email). There are a number of reasons why this is a good idea, including:

  • There is less chance for error – prescriptions are typed rather than handwritten
  • Instructions are more accurate – there is a centralized system for dosages
  • There is less likelihood of prescription fraud (and therefore less likelihood of drug abuse)
  • It is faster than the standard method

The patient will see their doctor, either face to face or through the online appointment system we mentioned above, and the ePrescription can be sent directly to their local pharmacy. In some cases, the drugs will be delivered straight to the patient’s door.
