How 9 Things Will Change The Way You Approach Fitness Coaches

If you’re looking for a fitness coach and you want to do your research first, this is the article for you. I’m going to let you know what 9 things will change the way that you approach any fitness coach. Check out muchas gracias menu for healthy options.

It’s important to know what makes your perfect fitness coach before hiring them. If they don’t have all 9 of these qualities, then it might not be a good fit for either of us.

So let’s dive into these 9 things and see what they are.

1. Passion For Fitness

Are they passionate about helping you get fit? This is so important if you want to truly make the relationship work. If your coach doesn’t have a passion for fitness, or an excessive passion for fitness, then I know right away if we should be working together.

2. Finished Their Masters, Or Are They In The Process?

If they have finished their masters in exercise science, this is a huge plus in my book! When I was finishing my masters in public health, every study I read and all of the lectures that we took really strengthened my resolve to become a nutrition coach. Your fitness coach should know the ins and outs and science of nutrition, because that’s what you’re paying them for.

3. If They Have A Nutrition Certification?

Do they have a certification from a credible institution, like the NSCA-CSCS? If not, this is another red flag for me. Just because someone has been some type of trainer or coach for a long time doesn’t necessarily mean that they know how to get you to your goals. If they provide you with an in-depth report on how your diet is going to look like when we’re working together, then I know that they know what the hell they are talking about.

4. Their Personality

I’m a very big personality person. I need my clients and my coaches to be extremely outgoing. Most of the time, I’ll know right away if they have the personality that I’m looking for or not. If they are a people-pleaser and aren’t confident in themselves, then our work together may not be effective. If they don’t have these traits, then we might not have a long-lasting relationship together.

5. Their Professional Knowledge

Do they know the ins and out of nutrition and exercise science? If they can’t back up what they say with some type of research, then I’m not interested in working with them. I need to see their professional knowledge. I know that they have to have some type of certifications, or they need to be continuing education courses in order to stay on top of their game. In this industry, you can’t go more than 6 months without continuing your education.

6. Do They Have A Certificate In Fitness Coaching?

If they don’t have a certificate in fitness coaching or a certification in fitness nutrition, then we might not be able to work together effectively. Just because someone has the title or the business card doesn’t mean that they are qualified to help you reach your goals by giving you sound advice for diet and exercise. I want to see that they have a master’s degree or doctorate in exercise science, nutrition or physical therapy.

7. Their Experience And Their Results

If they can’t back up their experience with solid results, then I know that they aren’t qualified to be your personal fitness coach. If they are not willing to share the proof of their experience and their results, then I’ll have a hard time trusting them. I need to see results before I can truly trust them.

8. Do They Have The Ability To Adapt To Your Needs?

It is very important that your coach has the ability to adapt to your needs! Your needs may change over time and you can’t expect them to be perfect at all times. This will make our relationship difficult if we are not able to adapt. I personally believe that a great coach can adapt to almost any situation.

9. Do They Have The Ability To Provide You With Solutions?

If they can’t provide you with solutions that work for you, then I don’t want to work with them. I need my clients to have a coach who can help you reach your goals and be competitive in your job market. If your coach can’t offer you realistic and appealing solutions, then we may not be a good fit.

Conclusion:

Are you going to hire someone who is passionate about fitness, finished their masters, has a nutrition certification and experience, who can adapt to your needs, and provide you with solutions? I hope so!

I believe that these 9 things will change the way that you approach fitness coaching moving forward. If you don’t hire someone who has all of these qualities, then it’s probably not going to work out for either of us. By meeting all of these requirements in your coach, it’s going to be a stress-free journey once we start working together.
