Looking for The Perfect Red Dragon Names?

You’re sitting on the edge of your seat, waiting to hear what name you’ll be giving your red dragon. The only problem is that you can’t think of a good one!

The truth is that finding the perfec red dragon names is easier than it might seem. It takes an open mind, some patience, and a few minutes of time. Here are 37 suggestions for getting started:

1) Red Dragon.

You might not know this one yet but it should be pretty obvious: red dragons are already named dragons so there’s no need to get creative here. Just stick with the color and call them “Red.”

2) Fire-breathing Dragon.

Don’t look at this as a flame-breathing dragon. Look at it as a red dragon with fire-breathing capabilities, that probably also breathes fire if you’d like. The point is that it’s a Red Dragon.

Don’t get stuck in the thinking of giving them an airy-fairy, magical name like “Ember” or “Fenrir.” These are both good ideas, but they’re not Red Dragons and they can be really difficult to remember when you’re talking to people who don’t use dragons as their primary means of transportation between planets.

3) Man-eating Dragon.

In a world that continuously seems to forget that dragons are violent, dangerous beings of massive size, this is a pretty good one. You can consider anything else that lives on a dragon’s head as being eaten by it.

If you were to say it out loud, you probably would laugh and think it was ridiculous, so don’t do it in writing unless you want people to think you’re insane. Just like other fire-breathing dragons, Red Dragons are carnivores and will eat anything they can get their claws on.

4) Fire-breathing Brute Beast of the Desert.

This one requires a little explanation. The idea here is that your character will be a brute beast of the desert with fire-breathing capabilities. For this one, you can also consider referring to them as “Desert Man-Eater” or “Brute Beast Of The Desert.”

But you want people to think that they live in the desert, don’t they? So use this option if you feel like sticking with the theme: Brute Beast of the Desert. It’s nice, it’s short and simple, and it’s easy to remember when someone mentions your character over lunch at a trader’s market.

5) Fire Breather In The Desert.

Just like the above one, this is another one that requires a little explanation. The idea here is that they will be a fire breather in the desert. This might mean living on a mountain or in the desert, but it needs to indicate that they are probably fiery and fiery-tempered.

If you aren’t entirely sure why you’re hesitant about “Fire Breather” then I recommend going with “Fire Breathing Dragon” or even “Fire-Breather.” It can still work if you’re not sure how it sounds so don’t get overwhelmed by all the options out there.

6) Fire-breathing Dragon Man Of The Desert.

Just like the above one, this is another one that requires a little explanation. The idea here is that they are a fire-breathing dragon man of the desert, which should really just indicate that they are fiery and fiery-tempered.

If you’re not entirely sure why you’re hesitant about “Fire Breather” then I recommend going with “Fire Breathing Dragon” or even “Fire-Breather.” It can still work if you’re not sure how it sounds so don’t get overwhelmed by all the options out there.

7) Red Dragon Of The Dune Sea.

This is a rather good option to consider. It’s simple and it works well as a descriptive noun or adjective that can be used to describe your character, too. Sometimes people will ask what kind of dragon your character is and you can honestly say “Red Dragon Of The Dune Sea” and people will know that they are referring to a Red Dragon. If they are more curious, you can explain that the dragon man lives beside an immense sea of dunes with a similar color so it’s natural for the character to be called Red Dragon Of The Dune Sea.

8) Fire-breathing Red Dragon.

Think of this as a variation on “Fire Breathing Dragon” because it’s just an easy way to describe your character. If you want to give them a more descriptive name, you can also consider “Red Dragon With Fire Breathing Capabilities” but that might be more difficult for people to remember so I’ll say that “Fire Breathing Dragon” is probably the easier option here.
