The Good and Bad About Biochemistry

Biochemistry is the study of chemistry, biology and molecular biology that deals with the structure and function of proteins, nucleic acids, lipids and small molecules. Biochemistry encompasses all living organisms not only because they are made up of proteins, but also because DNA is used to code for every protein in their body. How many moles of cs are contained in 595 kg of cs? Even though biochemists can’t interact directly with these lifeforms (they use chemical reactions to create a tableau), it’s an incredibly engaging field that allows you to learn about how cells work from both a physical perspective as well as from a biological one.

Good about Biochemistry are:

1. It’s very important to understand the fundamental properties of chemistry and biology.

2. It’s very engaging, because it allows you to understand how cells work.

3. It helps you with understanding the molecular basis of diseases and diseases like cancer and diabetes, etc.

4. It can be used as a tool to help prevent or cure diseases by understanding them at a molecular level, using that information to create medicines that can have an effect on the cellular level.

5. It teaches you about making molecules and how they work, which is useful in life science fields like medicine as well as other fields where there are chemicals involved (like ceramics is used in the making of pottery).

6. It helps you understand enzymes, which are one of the most important molecules in biology. Not only can you understand why an enzyme acts like it does, but you also learn about how to manipulate enzymes so that they can be used for industries or medicines.

7. It can help create medicines that may have an effect on a cellular level as well as treat ailments of a cellular nature.

8. The career options are practically endless: research, medicine (natural healing), teaching, science, business and entrepreneurship just to name a few!

9. Prestige: the study of biochemistry is very prestigious and only those students who are very strong in science fare well enough to successfully complete the course.

10. It can help you with your pre-med and pre-health courses as well as your chemistry courses.

11. It can help you with a lot of different life science courses at the university.

12. It could help you understand how cells work and how they are programmed to behave and react to certain stimuli, which is useful in developing medicine (particularly if your field is biology or chemistry).

Bad about Biochemistry are :

1. Not very many people who have full biochemistry degrees take the time to write about what their degree is like, which is unfortunate because there’s a lot of other interesting things that can be said about the field.

2. It takes a long time to complete (around 4 or 5 years).

3. Professors don’t always make it very clear what’s important to study and what’s not, which can be frustrating if you’re new to biochemistry.

4. It takes a lot of time and energy: some students complain that it can be difficult to keep up with the classes because a lot of them are so difficult, especially for someone who doesn’t have a strong science background.

5. It requires a lot of reading.

6. For some students, it may be too much work for their learning style – especially if they have difficulty in reading and writing, taking tests and studying in general, or just learning material that they don’t find interesting (which is common in high school).

7. Biochemistry is a very cut and dry course. It doesn’t really help students to develop their critical thinking skills, which can be frustrating for some students because it may limit their future potential.

8. Sometimes the course requires you to do dissections for practice or experiments, which can be difficult if you have an ethical issue with it.

9. Because the course is so difficult and time consuming, there are a lot of complaints about stress levels rising while in the course (but they tend to go back down once you get used to it).

10. The course requires a lot of memorization, which may be difficult if you have a poor memory.

11. It can be difficult to understand if you don’t have a good science background, but that’s proving to be less and less of an issue because the science requirements for high school students are getting higher and higher each year.

12. Biochemistry requires you to learn a lot of chemistry.

13. Some students find biochemistry to be a very difficult and tedious class that can drain the passion out of them if they’re not super into science.

Summary:

Even though biochemistry may seem like a very difficult course, it’s actually very interesting and rewarding. It’s important to choose your career carefully before taking it on, but if you’re an avid reader who enjoys science and biology then biochemistry may be the perfect choice for you!

Biochemistry is one of the most challenging, yet rewarding study programs in the world.
