Every subject is very much important as other subjects but Science is given most importance today. If preparation is done well then, a student can score full marks in science. NCERT Class 10 Science Book PDF is the basic textbook to prepare for the exam.

Class 10 science textbook has 16 chapters. They are related to physics, chemistry, and biology which are different fields in science. Class 10 science forms the basics of these three fields. If a student is aiming for an engineering or a medical profession in the future then this book is going to be one of the essential books in the groundwork of entrance exams. Before preparing for the exam a student should be familiarized with the pattern of the exam and the textbook to plan a study layout.

Structure of Class 10 Science Exam

The total subject is 100 marks. Out of 100 marks, 20 marks are given to the student based on the internal assessment done throughout the year. If a student completes the assignments, project work, and practical work then these 20 marks will be given to her/him. Rest 80 marks are entirely dependent upon a student as these marks are given based on the student’s performance in the written exam. Written exam paper has objective questions, short answer questions, and long answer questions. Each chapter has given a specific mark weightage in the exam so the student can prepare accordingly. Remember that this pattern will be focused on applications and reasoning more than memorizing.

The framework of Class 10 Science Textbook

Class 10 science textbook is focused on basic concepts of science which introduce students to scientific ideas and notions. As the new pattern focuses on the analytical and critical thinking of students, hence the chapters in the textbook are also designed in such a way that it influences methodical and interpretative thinking of students. Each chapter has an activity after explaining a concept. It will help students to understand the real-life applications of science. For example, the first chapter of the textbook, ‘Chemical Reactions & Equations’ efficiently explains the balancing and writing of chemical reactions by giving myriad examples. It also has some questions at the end of each concept, to help the student analyze how much they have understood the concept. In the textbook, there are diagrams and pictures where they are necessary.

Only reading and memorizing will not help in Class 10 Science exams to secure full marks. A student must need to give extra effort for that. Here are 10 tips that will be beneficial for a student preparing for the exams –

1. Plan only for a day – One day a week will be enough to study science. Plan study plan for that day only. On that day, a student can study Physics or Chemistry, or Biology and manage that time accordingly.

2. Start with easy chapters – Many times some concepts are hard to understand and to understand, a student tends to waste too much time than it should be. Hence avoid hard concepts for a while. When you complete the easy concepts, you can study hard concepts later according to the weightage given in the paper pattern.

3. Make short notes – When you are studying, always keep a notebook and pen with you to note down an important keyword, definition, or any important sentence which can be a valuable addition to your answer in the exams. Making notes while learning a concept will help in retaining what you learned. It also helps in improving handwriting.

4. Practice diagrams – Diagrams are important in answer writing. It enhances the quality of the answer, giving a student more marks. In biology and physics diagrams are important. Remember that it is not expected from a student to draw a replica of a diagram given in the textbook during an exam. Students should draw a neat labeled diagram and that will suffice too.

5. Make a list of important chapters – A student should make a list of important chapters and concepts based on marks weightage given in the exam. This will help in deciding which chapter to read first. This will also save your time the day before the exam while revising an entire syllabus in one day.

6. Solve practice questions – Most questions in exams are from the textbook. Therefore, prepare for them by solving questions given at the end of each chapter.

7. Solve sample papers and previous year question papers – Solving a variety of sample papers from reliable sources will increase the score and help in analyzing mistakes done in writing answers. Previous year question papers give a general idea about what type of questions can come in the exams.

8. Improving and Keep Practicing – Do not commit the same mistake twice. Once a student makes a mistake, he/she should take note of that mistake. Try to improve your performance in practice papers. Practice is the only key to improving performance and scoring full marks in an exam.

9. Doubt solving – Some concepts will be hard. While learning, a student may find some doubts. These doubts can be resolved by using NCERT solutions. NCERT solutions will help in grasping difficult concepts. A student should not be entirely dependent on NCERT solutions. A student can also take help from his/her teachers, tutors, or peers. A group study is an effective option for solving doubts. The
