Ten Words That Rhyme With Long That Nobody Will Tell You

Rhyme with long. Nobody wants to tell you. You might feel a little bit like an idiot or a nerd for rhyming this word with anything else. But here’s the thing: if you can read, write, and speak English, chances are good you’ve used this word in the past. In fact, it’s possible that you’ve tried to say something like “sincerely” or used “visibly” as many times as “long.” So why do people still think that long rhymes with deep? Well, besides the fact that it doesn’t rhyme with anything else (what most people need to realize), long is pronounced differently than deep. The number one word that rhymes with “long” is “song.” Other words that rhyme with long include: wrong, song, throng, tongue. The word “wrong “Rhyme with long.” Wrong is pronounced [raŋ] and it rhymes with [ng]. Wrong also means bad or incorrect. Other words that mean something different but contain the same sound as wrong are: song and throng. Tongue also sounds wrong even though it has a different meaning.

Ten Words That Rhyme With Long That Nobody Will Tell You :

1. Wrong:

Wrong means “inaccurate, inaccurate, and inaccurate.” (The spelling of the word depends on which version of the English language is being used.) The word rhymes with “long” and is pronounced [raŋ]. But, when you say the word wrong, it doesn’t rhyme at all. Wrong is one of the very few exceptions to the “rule” that a word rhymes with another that has the same sound.

2. Tongue:

Tongue means “to talk.” It’s pronounced [taŋ] and it rhymes with “long.” If you say tongue, you’re still using correct English because the word doesn’t rhyme with anything. The only thing missing from the word tongue is a long vowel sound at the end. Many people think tongue is pronounced [gu], but it’s not. Even though ‘t’ sounds different from ‘g,’ they are pronounced the same in English .

3. Song:

Song means “a piece of music.” It’s pronounced [sɑŋ] and it rhymes with “long”. In English, there are two long vowel sounds. The sound represented by the ‘o’ in song is a long ‘o,’ but some people think that it’s pronounced like the ‘oo’ in boon or moon. The sound represented by the ‘ng’ in song is a long ‘ng,’ but many people think that it’s also pronounced like the letter n: [n]. This is why so many people have trouble understanding you if you try to say “sorry” (which rhymes with song).

4. Throng:

Throng means a large crowd or dense mass. It’s pronounced [stʰɔŋ] and it rhymes with “long.” The word throng is always pronounced [stʰɔŋ], even though the ‘o’ in throng is silent. There’s no doubt that the word sounds like ‘throng.’ It’s written throng, but pronounced like ‘throng,’ not like something that rhymes with long.

5. Strung:

Strung means something that has been fastened together with a string. It’s pronounced [strŋ] and it doesn’t rhyme with anything. The pronunciation of strung is different from the pronunciation of song and wrong. But, it’s still pronounced like a long vowel sound.

6. Trong:

Trong means “a strong part of the body.” It’s pronounced [trŋ] and it doesn’t rhyme with anything. The word trong is always pronounced like ‘trong’ in English, even though there’s no vowel sound after the ‘g’ in trong. The same goes for song and wrong. Long words containing a consonant + vowel combination always have a sound at the end of the word or after the consonant + vowel combination. There are only two exceptions: when you have a silent letter (like the silent letter in song) or when you’re saying something that doesn’t rhyme with any other word (like throng).

7. Tongue-tied:

Tongue-tied means “confused, dumbfounded, and tongue-tied.” It’s pronounced [taŋ.tek’ed] and it doesn’t rhyme with anything. The word tongue-tied sounds like a long group of consonants + vowel combination that doesn’t contain a vowel sound. In other words, the sound of tongue-tied is as long as the word itself.

8. Thong:

Thong means “a slipper” or flip-flop sandal. It’s pronounced [tʰɑŋ] and it doesn’t rhyme with anything. The word thong sounds like a long vowel sound that doesn’t end in a ‘t.’ In other words, the sound of a thong is as long as ‘thong.’

9. Midsong:

Midsong means “a period of time during which there is a little bit of everything.” It’s pronounced [mɪs.sʌŋ] and it doesn’t rhyme with anything. So, if you’re thinking about saying something that rhymes with “long,” don’t say something like “sincerely” or use “visibly.” If you want to say something that rhymes with “song,” say something like: I would have played the song differently. Instead, try saying: I would have played the song differently.
