The Economist’s “Comprehensive Influencer Profiling” course results are published in the book titled “The Power of Influence: A Study of U.S. Presidential and Prime Ministerial Communications in the Twentieth Century” by Professor James L. Gibson, Ph.D., who is the communication scholar that participants in the course study under via his written material and recorded lectures and research tests conducted over a three year period as well as through online communication interactions with him for an additional year after the end of the course which began in September 2011.
The comprehensive influencer profiling course was based on a methodology developed by Professor James L. Gibson, Ph.D., physicist, author, and professor of communication at Fordham University in New York City over his 20 years of work studying U.S. presidential speeches from Woodrow Wilson to George W . Bush . Professor Gibson’s research tests concluded that an individual’s personality, values, and beliefs can be determined by the way they communicate: what they say, how they say it, how consistent their messaging is over time, how major their communication is (e.g., do they use a major platform such as a State of the Union speech or just a tweet), and how frequently they communicate.
