mycsun software is created by students at CUNY Hunter College for students on CUNY campuses. My CSUN Software, which was named one of the best college apps in 2014 by Fast Company, offers college faculty and student resources.
It includes databases on cultural events, courses of study, aptitude tests to help you discover your strengths and weaknesses, workshops with instructor-led videos and hands-on tasks.
The resource is available for free on desktop computers or laptops with internet access (Mac or Windows). You can also use your smartphone to access it through the browser app mycsub webapp.
Over 100 databases were created by the students of myCSUNsoftware in partnership with faculty members.
These databases have been chosen for their value for students in a college setting. The databases include:
Unlike other apps, mycsun software doesn’t contain a directory of local businesses, coffee shops or restaurants. Instead, it focuses on building community among students and professors.
Any student from any CUNY campus is allowed to submit a database request to add or update a database within mycsun software. In order to do so, they must submit their name and email address along with a requested title and description of the resource they would like to contribute.
Here are some points about myCSUNsoftware-
1. The General Program Composition:
a. It is a community-based application for faculty and students of CUNY Hunter Colleges as well as those colleges outside of CUNY.
b. The program is designed for the purpose of providing resources and information, which can be both educational and entertaining, for college placement and faculty development.
c. A new resource normally takes 24–36 hours to develop and can be submitted by any member of the public (student or faculty).
d. Each database has been categorized into one of four “scenes” by the student team who developed myCSUNsoftware: Study Planner, Course Evaluation, College Application Assessment , and Personal Development.
2. How the App Works:
a. It gives you access to your college’s databases and doesn’t require any additional information such as login, password, or email address.
b. You can use it on any desktop or laptop computer with an internet connection (Mac or Windows).
c. It also offers a mobile website: mycsub webapp through which you can access all of your college’s databases and more on your smartphone and tablet (not available on iPad).
d. The application is free for users and the myCSUNteam that built it doesn’t charge for its development services.
3. The Team that Built it:
The application was designed and developed by CUNY Hunter students under the supervision of the Executive Director.
The team’s General Manager is Sandra Viera, a 2012 Graduate of CUNY Hunter College. The team works in shifts to ensure that all queries are attended to during normal business hours.
mycsun software is free for anyone affiliated with a CUNY college, including students who are registered in one or more courses during the semester they are using it.
mycsun software allows users to access course evaluation databases, course curricula, cultural events databases, technological resources, etc. It is available on the internet for free through myCSUNwebapp browser versions on computers with internet access.
4. How the App was Conceived:
mycsun software was conceived out of a need for greater information access to college information for students in the CUNY System.
The application is available for use by any CUNY student. It can be accessed on computers with internet access at home or in the college computer lab.
5. The Community it Creates:
As mycsun software has evolved, it has created a community where users are able to feel more connected with each other because of the feedback they are submitting within this application.
Users are able to see what other users are submitting allowing them to establish a voice and establish their role as an individual within the larger community that is myCSUNsoftware.
It has created a sense of community, which creates a platform for students to be heard and seen by their faculty and peers.
6. The Unique Approach:
myCSUNsoftware was designed around the concept of using students as the primary source of information within the application itself.
This unique approach allows students to be directly involved in providing information about their college and making decisions through a democratic process.
It gives users direct access to other users and allows them to build up a social network and foster their role as an individual within the larger myCSUNteam community.

The application is very flexible and allows you to use any of the databases for your own needs. You can check what classes you’re registered in as well as which courses you need to take as a result of those classes with ease.
