Aespa: The Newest Style Icons to Watch

With such a unique concept, Aespa is certainly turning heads just days after its debut. They’re the highly anticipated girl group from SM Entertainment, and they certainly didn’t disappoint with their debut track, Black Mamba. Aside from coming from a big entertainment company, however, the girls also proved that they are style icons to watch.

Here are some Aespa-approved style elements you can incorporate in your own outfits:

Neons

K-pop is known for dictating fashion trends, and while other groups have already worn neon pants, Aespa packs the AI element into their clothes, giving them a Neon Genesis Evangelion vibe. What differentiates Aespa from other groups is the feminine aspect of their neons, from highly reflective tops but with ethereal treatment, to skirts in bright pinks and greens.

When you think Aespa, you think youthful and vibrant, but it’s not just another summer concept, no. The avatar element is definitely there to set them apart from other groups.

Hair Accessories

Their faces are their best asset, because they are recognizable and impactful, and they do seem to take Korean skincare seriously. Their impact also extends to the way they style their hair. Hair accessories give every group’s stage a more dreamy vibe.

For Vespa, the way they wear their hair accessories accentuates the fantasy aspect of their concept. They are a group that you would be enchanted to see, but there are hints of them being otherworldly, just as their music video showed when they became the animated versions of themselves. Following Aespa’s debut, expect to see more golden hairpins and barrettes on your friends’ wishlists. You yourself may already be starting to flaunt your baby bangs–yet another youthful element we see from Aespa.

Sequins

The treatment of Aespa’s promotional photos give them the ethereal vibe that fits their concept perfectly, and even some of their stages show an almost fairy-like quality to them. Some of their outfits have included skirts you’ll imagine as part of the costumes for A Midsummer Night’s Dream, while others are more muted in terms of palette, but just as impactful.

The slender figures of the four members also make any outfit look good. More than all of that, however, they wear a great deal of attention-catching pieces, from orange spaghetti strapped tops to peach fur coats and studded gloves. Sequins definitely fit right in for a group that is hard to ignore.

Studded Boots

Leather and Aespa is a match made in heaven, especially when we’re talking footwear. If you see these girls wearing more leather pants and boots on their future stages, it’s because they can carry the difficult material quite well.

Their promotional shoots exude confidence that doesn’t easily come for most rookies, but Aespa is certainly here to stay and here to slay. With that said, they might not even be in regular black leather and studded boots–they already showed that they can wear color well, after all.

With one Chinese and one Japanese member to join their two Korean members, Aespa is certainly an ensemble that shows just how versatile Asian girl groups can be. It’s no wonder they have garnered millions of views for their debut stage already!
